About Crosscut Sewing Co.
Crosscut Sewing Co. is an online fabric shop and sewing studio located in Melrose, MA. My online shop carries a curated selection of our favorite fabrics. I carry a variety of quilt weight fabrics in practical basics and fun novelty prints. I also carry canvas, leather straps, webbing, tools and sewing kits. My exclusive sewing patterns and kits are designed to be easy to follow and fun to sew for beginners and seasoned sewists!
Crosscut Sewing Co. also offers a variety of handmade accessories and gifts. I custom make gifts and accessories for individuals, gift shops and private labels.
My fully equipped classroom has a variety of tools, machines and equipment. It is a place where people who share a common interest can work and learn together. I have brand new, state of the art sewing, embroidery, overlock and coverstitch machines. Create the project of your dreams without having to purchase expensive equipment or sacrifice your dining room table!
I offer classes for many levels and interests. Classes start at age 7 for children. For adults we offer a variety of instruction from beginner sewing to advanced workshops. I LOVE beginners!!! I know once you stitch that first stitch you will be hooked. I have everything you need in our classroom, so all you have to do for classes is show up! My 'Make At Home' projects combine, video instruction, written directions and supplies to make sewing at home fun and easy.
My studio is only open for scheduled classes to the students enrolled in that class. All fabric & supplies can be purchased through the website. Orders usually ship same day if they are received by 3:00PM ET Monday - Friday. If you are in the local area, you may receive your order as soon as the next day!
Hi, I'm Stephanie! My background is in marketing and web design but when I was expecting my second daughter, I decided to learn to sew. I was hooked from the first stitch! I was working from home as a graphic designer and started an Etsy business on the side. Eventually, I started selling fabric as well. I love teaching others to sew and I started releasing patterns and tutorials on my website and teaching at local shops. I decided to pursue this business full time and open a brick and mortar location so I could set up my own classroom and expand the fabric I offered. I have lived in Melrose my whole life, and I knew I wanted to open my shop here.

I have been very encouraged by the response, especially from kids! My goal is to make it easy to learn to sew. For most classes, students can just show up. We have all of the machines, tools and materials needed for classes. People can learn to sew without making a costly investment in supplies. My 'Make At Home' kits extend the Crosscut experience to anyone who wants to sew at home. I also have a variety of handmade gifts, so there is something for everyone. Our motto is Shop, Learn, Make!
