Children's Open Sewing ClassesSold Out
Each sewing session offers a variety of projects and skills including machine sewing and hand sewing. Classes are for ages 7+. All supplies are included in the class fee.
If your child does not have previous sewing experience, please sign them up for the Beginner Sewing Workshop or private lesson before their first class.
We like to encourage new students to work on a few specific projects in their first few weeks to build on their core skills and build confidence. After that all students are encouraged to select from any of our class projects. We try to accommodate special requests and projects within reason. We have lots of options to chose from and are always coming up with new ideas!
We keep class enrollment small so that each student is given individual attention and full use of all classroom amenities. This helps students to get to know each other and maximize their creativity.
Classes run for 2 hours. The last 5 minutes of classes are used to tidy up the workstations and classroom.
Please do not drop off any earlier than 5 minutes prior to class.
If you are running late to pick up your child, please call the shop.
Payment is required before the first class.
All payments can be made online by credit card, gift card, cash or check.
Siblings receive a 5% discount on each student. Use the code SIBLINGS at checkout.
Classroom Policies And Information Summer/Fall 2020
To limit the number if people in the classroom, please leave your student at the door. We will walk them out after class.
Cancellations and transfers may NOT be done through the website. You will need to contact the studio directly.
There are no refunds for missed days due to changed work or vacation schedules, sick days or other non-emergency reasons.
Please notify the studio as soon as possible if your child will miss a class. Please keep sick students at home, in order to maintain the health of the other students. Refunds and transfers must be requested at least 7 days prior to the session from which you are withdrawing. Refunds are not allowed for those who register within 7 days prior to a session’s start. We do need to enforce this policy. We maintain a low teacher to student ratio so we staff accordingly and prepare many supplies in advance. We also have a wait list for many classes and need time to fill spots.
New Studio Procedures and Guidelines
Masks must be worn at all times.
Facilities will be cleaned and disinfected prior to students entering.
Students are asked to stay home with a fever or any symptoms of illness. Please give me as much notice as possible. If I am able to fill the spot, I may be able to issue a refund. Classes are already at half capacity and I really need to fill each one to be able to continue to run them.
Classes will be limited to 4-5 students per class.
Only students who have previously attended classes at Crosscut Sewing will be able to enroll.
The waiting area will be closed to parents and siblings. Please drop your student off at the door. I will walk them out to the sidewalk when class is over, feel free to wave at the front door so we know you are there.
No food will be allowed. Students may come with a water bottle, labeled with FIRST & LAST name. Please limit other personal items. Students may bring their own hand sanitizer.
I will direct any traffic using restrooms to be sure social distancing is in place and wipe down surfaces. Please have your student use the bathroom before they arrive if possible.
Students will be asked to sanitize hands upon entry.
Please have your child keep their hair pulled back. We have elastics in the shop if they need one.
